For the last 7 years, the European International School Ho Chi Minh City (EIS) has been offering scholarship opportunities to students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance and a commitment to community service.
This year EIS will also be offering Merit Scholarships to new students entering Grade 10 or Grade 11, who have the potential to excel in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme. The IB Programme can be a life-changing opportunity as it develops inquiring, knowledgeable, confident students who are empowered with future ready skills to make a difference and thrive in the 21st century. The IB programme and skills gained by EIS students also provide a proven pathway to top universities.
Khoa Tran, an EIS graduate and scholarship recipient, was one of the students who excelled in the IB programme. Khoa received a full scholarship to New York University in Abu Dhabi (NYAUD) to study Legal. He claims his experience with CAS (Creativity, Arts & Service), which is part of the IB Diploma at EIS, as being an important part in obtaining his NYU scholarship and the foundation to his success.
“CAS played an important part in my development, it gave me a lot of leadership opportunities and also helped me develop long-term connections who also joined my current start-up business.”
Khoa also talks about how the EIS IB curriculum prepared him for university and recently publishing 2 scientific articles in Scopus and ISI journals. “I have to say that the IB curriculum is very challenging and rewarding, and the three most important skills I have learned are research writing, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary thinking,”
For Khoa, the EIS Merit Scholarship opened many doors so he could achieve his academic potential and become a global citizen.
