Weekly Newsletter - 28th February 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Book Week was a great success, focusing student attention on the importance of reading.
The “Poster Competition”, “Caught Reading” and the Book Week Assembly were particularly popular events with students, parents and teachers actively involved.
Activities during the week were clearly aligned with our learning principle that students understand the purpose of their learning and can set goals to improve their learning, in this case their reading ability.

We held a practice drill on last Wednesday for ‘’lockdown” – a safety procedure that schools have in place to protect everyone in the school in the event of an emergency threat. Teachers talked with students about ‘’lockdown’’ during the week and reviewed procedures with them. The feedback from the practice drill was informative in continuing to improve school security.
The School is currently receiving a staged handover of the new building and we anticipate a phased occupancy of the classrooms and use of the facilities during March.

In October students in Grades 3 to 10 participated in the International Schools’ Assessments.  The ISAs are numeracy and literacy benchmarking assessments based on the OECD's Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). They are specially designed for international students and are currently being used by around 355 schools worldwide.
The results for your child were sent home this week. If you did not receive the report or have any questions regarding the report please contact your child’s homeroom teacher or Head of Section.
As a school, we will be analyzing the patterns of performance at each grade level and teachers will be using this information to inform teaching and learning.
