Weekly Newsletter - 14th February 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back to school and I hope you enjoyed a happy TET holiday. There are two upcoming school events that relate to the school’s learning principle: “to engage in meaningful and intentional practices”.

INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGES DAY
International Languages Day will take place on Thursday, February 21st. This event is being organized by the Classroom Parent Representatives and further information will be published shortly.

BOOK WEEK
Book Week will take place during the week of February 25th. The aims are to focus attention on the importance of reading and developing good habits. The schedule of events is attached and please note that the Book Week Assembly will take place on Thursday, February 28th to which parents are invited. More information can be found here.

NEW SCHOOL BUILDING
We anticipate that the new building will be completed within the next few weeks and then handed over to the school. There will then be a period of time to acquire the necessary licensing and complete fit-out. We anticipate a phased occupancy of the building during the month of March.

SCHOOL ACCREDITATION
We will welcome a Visiting Team of 12 members from the Council of International Schools and International Baccalaureate Organization during the second week of March. They will be present in the school conducting evaluation of the school against the standards for accreditation and curriculum authorization. There will be opportunities for parents, particularly members of the Parent Council and Classroom Parent Representatives, to engage with the Visiting Team.

SCHOOL BUDGET 2019/ 2020
During March the school will also embark on developing the school budget for next school year. Once this is approved by A-Star-Education the tuition fees for next school year will be notified by mid-April.

SCHOOL CALENDAR 2019/ 2020
Please see a copy of the overview calendar for next school year here, indicating national and school holidays. A more detailed calendar including school events will be published at a later date.

MEET THE SENIOR LEADERSHIP TEAM
The next opportunity to meet with the SLT will be on Monday, March 4th in the LRC at 8.00am. There will be a presentation on the “Adolescent Brain (Ages 10 to 15) – What Parents Should Know”, followed by a brief discussion.

All the very best,

Sean O'MaoNaigh
Head of School
