Weekly Newsletter - 03rd January 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Happy New Year! I hope you and your family had a relaxing holiday. The school will reopen on Monday, January 7th.

For Early Years: The weekly menu can be found on the notice board in the Little Explorers campus.
For Primary: Please kindly make your selection from the menu for your child / children and submit your choices by Sunday, 6th January 2019. Please ask your children to help with the choosing of their meals as this ensures that they are learning to take some responsibility for their food choices.
For Middle & High School: Menu is available here
Reports were issued for students in December and we hope that you found the information regarding student assessment helpful in understanding your child’s progress.
If you do not understand any aspect of the assessment criteria of the report or you have any questions or concerns, please make an appointment with the class/subject teacher during the coming week.
Now is also a good time to revisit the report and discuss with your child where they are having difficulty and set targets for improvement during the coming term. It is important to praise the child for the effort being made and how you, as a parent, can help at home.
A number of renovation projects have been undertaken during the holidays. There include:
Installation of a new colourful, rubberized surface in the primary playground.
Refurbishing of play equipment.
Shading and new seating area in the Canteen.

New access/exit gates have been installed at the Early Years / Primary Entrance (Ngo Quang Huy Street). Access will now be through two new pedestrian gates (one dedicated for entrance, one for exit), which allows better supervision and access control over people entering and leaving the campus.
IMPORTANT: For child safety reasons, it is essential that all parents entering the school wear their school-issued ID card. Please be advised that this will be enforced by our security personnel. Parents who do not present their ID card will be requested to sign-in and wear a visitor’s ID card.

The internal fit-out of the new facilities has commenced, including classrooms for Grades 5 and 6, a swimming pool and a multi-purpose room. We anticipate phased use of the facilities commencing during February 2019.
The school is now preparing for the week-long site visit by the Council of International Schools, which will take place during the second week of March. The Self-Study Report has been completed by all committees and the school is finalizing policies and procedures to meet the standards of accreditation.
As mentioned in recent meetings with parents, accreditation is an ongoing process for school improvement in all aspects of school operations.
The SLT will be available as usual on the first Monday of the month – next Monday, 7th January at 8.00 am in the LRC. All parents, especially new parents are invited. On this occasion this informal gathering will welcome particularly new parents who join the school in Term 3.

We will hold a Movie Night on Saturday, 12th January. Don't forget to put the date in your calendars. Gates open at 5 pm and the movie (Wall-E) will start at 6 pm. Food will be available for purchase. Please help for better preparation by clicking “Interested” or “Going” on our Facebook Events.

All the very best,

Sean O'MaoNaigh
Head of School
