Weekly email from EIS to Parents - 12th December 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians,

EIS Family Christmas Picnic: December 7th
Thank you to everyone who attended the Family Picnic – it was a wonderful community event. Special thanks to the organizing Parent and Staff Committees, the CPRs and the students who performed or organized games/activities. A sum of VND26,000, 000 was raised for Operation Smile. A survey has been sent out and we would appreciate your feedback on the organization of the event. Images of the event are available here.

Student Reports
The semester reports for students have been issued this week. If you have any questions regarding a report in general or specific subject area you should please contact the homeroom or classroom teacher directly.
We know that when a parent is involved positively in a child's education they do better at school and now is a good time to plan a constructive conversation with your child about the semester report.

Parent Workshop: Thursday, January 9th - “Concepts and Inquiry”
Tania Lattanzio, an experienced international educator and consultant, will visit the school in early January to work with our teachers.
Previously a teacher, coordinator, and manager with the International Baccalaureate, she is now Director of Innovative Global Education. In this role, she works in developing and conducting professional development for teachers and leadership; modelling pedagogy in classrooms, developing and designing conceptual curriculum for schools and through mentoring and coaching, to improve planning, teaching and assessment.

An advocate of inquiry, she works with educators to provide students with an education that is purposeful, meaningful and relevant to their lives, where students have opportunities to be motivated and have agency of their own learning. Tania is also an author, published in a variety of educational journals, as well as the book 'Taking the Complexity out of Concepts'.
Tania will present a workshop for parents to provide a better understanding of inquiry based learning, especially in an IB classroom, on Thursday, January 9th in the MPR. We hope you can save the date and make arrangements to attend.
