Dear Parents and Guardians,
ENROLMENT FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2019/20
Thank you to those parents who have already responded to the School, to indicate intention to re-enroll for next academic year. These parents should have already received an invoice and a soft copy of the new School Agreement.
Urgent feedback from those parents who have yet to confirm their enrolment intentions for next year is now essential. There are waiting lists in several grades and if positive confirmation of re-enrollment from existing families is not received, places will be allocated to new incoming families. The deadline for final notification is May 15th.
PARENT - SCHOOL AGREEMENT
As you may be aware the School has been working on drafting new Terms and Conditions of Enrolment (the Parent-School Agreement). This was necessitated by the requirements of the Council of International School to ensure transparency of contractual arrangements between parents and the School. The process has been collaborative, involving A-Star Education, School Management and the Parent Council.
A softcopy of the Agreement has been sent to parents for review. If you have not received a copy please contact Admission. A hardcopy will be sent home to parents for signature in late May.
The holy month of Ramadan began last weekend and will end approximately June 4th.
We would like to support any students who will be observing the fast. As such we would ask parents to please inform the nurses if their children will be fasting for any or all of this period. Please do not hesitate to let us know should your child require extra support during this time.
NEW SCHOOL BUILDING
The MPR and Swimming Pool facilities are now operational and students are using both venues for teaching and events. We anticipate having access to the rooftop sports area during the coming week.
ASSESSMENTS AND EXAMINATIONS
Students in 12 have now commenced their final examinations. Students in Grade 10 are currently preparing for E- assessments next week.
Students in Grade 5 are preparing for their PYP Exhibition and finalizing the presentations of their research projects.
SUMMER CAMP 2019 FOR STUDENTS FROM GRADES 1 – 8
Everest Education (E2) has been invited to become part of the EIS School Community for this upcoming summer vacation for students from all schools from Grades 1 - 8. Founded by Harvard and Stanford graduates with a mission of preparing K-12 students academically and emotionally for an international education, E2 has been the trusted summer camp provider for many other international school partner schools in HCMC.
The theme for Summer Camp 2019 is Wonder World. This is a five-week interactive camp that allows students to explore a multi-disciplinary journey through major regions of the world. Each week students will examine a specific area and discover the natural wonders found on land and under the sea, learn more about the cultures - including food, traditions, and arts. Students will also dig deeper into understanding major issues faced in each area and on a global scale.
Wonder World allows students to participate in a variety of both academic and fun activities and enjoy their summer to the fullest. The unique environment builds up students with a passion for lifelong learning and a can-do attitude that carries forward into their future.

HEALTH TALK – INSECT BITES FROM DR. RUBEN | FAMILY MEDICAL PRACTICE
Family Medical Practice Vietnam and the European International School Ho Chi Minh City (EIS) are proud to co-host a new health talk for families—Insect Bites with FMP Internist Dr. Ruben Martinez-Castejon.
Living in a tropical country like Vietnam, it’s not uncommon to encounter pests that can bite, sting, and even burn the skin. How can we avoid the unwanted attention of these irritating creatures?
Dr. Ruben, Internal Medicine (with an interest in Dermatology) at Family Medical Practice will present an overview of the threats and annoyances posed by local arthropods, including scabies, bed bugs, Paederus fuscipes, centipedes, sandflies, mosquitoes, ticks and other little creatures. He has been the referral point for skin-related conditions at FMP since 2012. He obtained a postgraduate diploma in dermatology at Cardiff University and studied dermoscopy with the finest experts in the field—a technique that aids in the early detection of skin cancer. He is now starting a scar care unit at our medical center featuring the best of modern treatments.
Attend our workshop to learn more about this issue and what we can do to avoid being bugged.
