Weekly email from EIS to Parents - 06th June 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Presentation Day was a wonderful celebration of the many achievements of our students during the school year. Time moves quickly and often we do not notice the little changes in our lives and in ourselves that make us who we are.
As a school we have maintained a strong focus based on our Vision Narrative, Values and Learning Principles to provide a teaching and learning environment that emphasizes the individual student, in the context of our global village.
The curriculum has been shaped to meet the needs of our students and formed within the frameworks of the International Baccalaureate Programs. These provide a broader international dimension as we continue to ensure best instructional practices at all levels. We were very pleased this year to receive continued endorsement from the IB.
We have sought to conform, increasingly, to international standards and during this school year underwent an evaluation of a self-study report by a visiting team representing the Council of International Schools. The award of recognition as an internationally Accredited School was an amazing validation of the work of our teachers and students.
Opening our enhanced facilities, especially a 25m pool and a Multi-purpose Room, was a further milestone and provided opportunities to broaden further the activities and experiences of our students.
Change for improvement is not an event, but a process with a defined mission and we look forward to an exciting time ahead next school year we enter further stages of development based on our planned Strategic Intent.
This has been a great year for EIS. I would like to thank all the staff for their dedication and commitment to our students and the school in general. Thank you also to the parent community for your support, especially CPRs who have actively supported the work of teachers and students in classrooms, on trips and in activities.
The school will close on Wednesday, 12 June. I wish those staff, families and students leaving our school continued success and I look forward to welcoming all who are remaining back to school on Monday, August 12th.
Thank you to all of you for joining us yesterday for the End of Year Show. It was so wonderful to see the children perform with such confidence, conviction and enjoyment. A special thank you and well done to our Toddler Parents for being great risk takers and participating in the show - a first for us! Photos are available here.
This week students have been engaging in creative and performing arts. From drama classes to clay classes, dancing with Arts Nation to drumming, students in Middle and High School have been having been finding new ways to express their creativity. A highlight of the week has been the Design and Visual Arts Exhibition on display in the Multi-Purpose Room of the new building. Photos are available here.
In Primary, students have also been celebrating the Creative Arts this week and participating in activities around the topic Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. If you have a chance, please have a look at the Primary Art displays in the Multi-Purpose Room above the tennis courts. It will be open for viewing tomorrow up until 4 p.m.
Arts displays of Early Years will be at the Dance room in Villa 9.
As you may be aware that the School has been working on drafting new Terms and Conditions of Enrolment (the Parent-School Agreement). This was necessitated by the requirements of the Council of International School to ensure transparency of contractual arrangements between parents and the School. The process has been collaborative, involving A-Star Education, School Management and the Parent Council. Hard copies will be sent home today. Please kindly return the agreement with your signature before 12th June 2019.

The European Union Delegation to Vietnam would like to invite parents and students of EIS to a Debate between European Citizens, European Ambassadors and Consul General on the role and achievements of the EU, prospects and challenges after the European elections and the international role of the European Union. The conference will be held at EIS Multi-Purpose Room in the new building from 19:00 – 20:30 on Wednesday 12th June, 2019.

Everest Education (E2) has been invited to become part of the EIS School Community for this upcoming summer vacation for students from all schools from Grades 1 - 8. Founded by Harvard and Stanford graduates with a mission of preparing K-12 students academically and emotionally for an international education, E2 has been the trusted summer camp provider for many other international school partner schools in HCMC.

Each week students will examine a specific area and discover the natural wonders found on land and under the sea, learn more about the cultures - including food, traditions, and arts.
