A Careers Talk by Mr. Benjamin Tan - An EIS Parent

On Monday 16th November, Mr. Benjamin Tan (an EIS parent) was invited to share some of his experiences as an architect with the Grade 10s in their Design class. Mr. Benjamin is the Architectural Design Director for CPG Vietnam across three different offices. He has many years' experience in this field, and originally graduated from an Australian University in Tasmania.
Mr. Ian, the Design teacher, had the students working on an architectural unit, designing and building a model house to serve a NGO housing project. Students were continuing on with their designs as Mr. Benjamin went around talking with each of them, asking questions, sharing some experience and advice. The students were greatly encouraged by his visit.
One of our Grade 10 students, Damita shared the following feedback: “The visit was very helpful because the feedback suggested has helped me to get more inspiration and further development of my design product. I really think that visits like these are really helpful and fun! It would be very nice if we have more visits because by talking with the parents, we will have some sort of idea in what careers we would like to take in the future”.
This year, EIS students will have a series of careers talks like this, presented by our parents who are experts in different fields or industries.
