Living in HCMC
With 8+ million residents (and 7+ million motorbikes), Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC or Saigon) is a fast-paced, constantly developing modern city and is the economic centre of Vietnam. Last year HCMC was considered to be the world’s second-most dynamic city.
HCMC is full of cafes, restaurants and bars serving food from around the globe. Saigon offers glimpses of history and culture including Chinese pagodas, French colonial landmarks, local “shoebox” shop houses, and modern glass/steel towers.
There is something for everyone including sports clubs, galleries, cafes and eateries, art classes, yoga, kids clubs, shopping malls and markets, museums, parks to name a few. Saigon is a wonderful place for families offering a wide variety of accommodation and lots of family-friendly cafes, restaurants and activities.
Saigon is an ideal ‘base’, being centrally located in the Asian region. There are many opportunities to not only explore the varied beauty of Vietnam but also countries like Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Singapore which are less than two hours from HCMC. Hong Kong, China, Laos, the Philippines, and Taiwan are also easily accessible.
