International Curriculum

EIS is one of a handful of International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum Schools in Vietnam and one of less than 400 IB Continuum Schools worldwide.
We fully embrace the values and philosophy of the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) by offering three of its academic programmes:

  • Primary Years Programme - from 3 to 10 years of age (Kindergarten 1 to Grade 5).
  • Middle Years Programme - from 11 to 15 years of age (Grade 6 to Grade 10)
  • Diploma Programme - from 16 to 18 years of age (Grade 11 and Grade 12)

An internationally recognised high school education

Our High School delivers the two-year Diploma Programme (DP). To complete the IB-accredited programme, students are required to study subjects selected from six broad areas and complete 3 additional compulsory components, including a 4,000-word Extended Essay that can be written on a topic of their choice.

A teacher is appointed to supervise each IBDP student; however, external examiners grade final essays.

Testimonials

Ju Hye Moon | FROM CLASS OF 2018

I was able to work freely in various fields such as social, politics and science as well as in the field of arts at EIS. In the IB curriculum, I was given opportunities to plan my own events and lead students to participate so I was able to easily determine my career path after school. Our teachers were very strict at first because they helped students create environments to lead their own learning or activities, but now that I think about it, it helped me learn the qualities of a true leader. Thanks to the many experiences I had at EIS, I am now confident and proud to be in a college in the UK. Ju Hye Moon, Fashion Accessories and Textile Futures, Ravensbourne University in London

Kliegl Family | FROM EUROPE

When I decided to write some comments about the European International School, I first thought that it would be the easiest task ever. I was wrong. It took me literally a month before being able to put into words my admiration and profound gratitude for this school. I couldn’t decide where to begin. Everything is great about the EIS: how teachers are available, personally, by phone or email, night and day, weekday or weekend; how education is presented as a joyful and delightful experience for our children; how students are encouraged to discover, enquire and question; how parents are directly involved in the school’s life and how the school management listens to them... The list is so long. For my family, however, the most impressive characteristic of the EIS is the empathy and will to help of all of the staff: when our youngest son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, not only was he kept as a regular student, but the EIS actively helped us to implement every single measure we decided to take with regards to his therapy. The level of commitment, acceptance, empathy and will of understanding demonstrated by the EIS towards our son and our family is simply beyond comparison. And for this, we will be forever grateful.

Stevenson Family | FROM AUSTRALIA

When we moved to Vietnam from Australia, our daughter had been at a small, child centred school and it was important to find a good fit. The European International School was perfect with its warm, friendly village feel. As Sage was still young, seven at the time, a nurturing, creative and inclusive environment was essential to her well being. We found this at EIS and it has continued to be so, Sage is now in her fourth year. The Primary Years Program was also a big drawcard for us as it is an internationally available program that Sage can continue on with when we move home. Parent involvement is encouraged, whether it be as a class parent representative, member of the Parents Council, community events or in the classroom. We have always found our ideas, concerns and opinions can be voiced and heard. I love that Sage has had the opportunity to be exposed to different cultures both through fellow students, teachers and also learning a second language. Although the facilities are limited at EIS, Sage has been able to join the choir and swim team which has competed internationally. The size of the school really allows opportunities for students which they may otherwise not have and is continually looking for ways to involve students, parents and teachers in school life.
